Pickup Truck Driver Crashes into Utility Pole in North Pattaya, Causing It to Collapse onto Oncoming Motorcycle; Multiple Injuries Reported

Pattaya, Thailand – December 24th, 2025

A serious traffic accident occurred on North Pattaya Road in Chonburi province on Wednesday morning, when a pickup truck driver lost control and struck a utility pole on the road median. The pole collapsed onto an oncoming motorcycle, injuring four people, including two young riders heading to work.

The accident took place at approximately 8:52 a.m. opposite the Pattaya City Hall in Banglamung district. Police and rescue teams responded quickly after receiving reports of the crash.

At the scene, authorities found a black four-door Toyota Vigo pickup truck, registered in Bangkok heavily damaged and lying on its side on the median. The driver, 24-year-old Sirawit Don-ee, had sustained minor injuries. His passenger, 29-year-old Ornapim Sae-Ung, suffered injuries to her face, arms, and legs. Both received initial first aid before being transported to Pattaya Patanakun Hospital.

Additionally, a black Honda Wave 125i motorcycle was damaged in the collision. The two riders – 20-year-old Praminthawat Unwong and 16-year-old Juthamas Suksridee – were injured and rushed to Pattaya City Hospital for treatment.

According to Mr. Sirawit, the pickup truck driver, he was traveling in the rightmost lane on North Pattaya Road toward Sukhumvit Road when another unidentified pickup truck suddenly swerved closely into his lane. Despite honking his horn, the other vehicle continued to encroach, forcing him to brake hard. This caused his truck to skid, spin out, and crash into the utility pole on the median, which then toppled across the road and struck the approaching motorcycle.

CCTV footage from around 8:52 a.m. captured the moment of impact, showing a loud crash, dust clouds billowing, and a wheel detaching from one of the vehicles. Bystanders quickly stopped to assist the injured.

Traffic police closed a section of North Pattaya Road from in front of City Hall toward Pattaya Beach to facilitate the investigation and cleanup. Officers documented the scene, interviewed the pickup driver in detail, and are reviewing CCTV footage to determine the full circumstances and any potential legal action.
