Chonburi, Thailand – Immigration officials in Chonburi Province conducted coordinated raids on two major locations, resulting in the discovery of nearly 200 migrant workers violating Thai immigration laws, primarily from Myanmar and Cambodia.

The operations were overseen by Police Colonel Naphaspong Khosit Suriyamanee, Superintendent of Chonburi Immigration, and led in the field by Police Lieutenant Kittipat Hongchuwech. The team included investigators, volunteer police, and officers from the Pattaya Tourist Police Division.

The first raid targeted a construction site in Moo 9 in the Pong Subdistrict. Authorities encountered 155 foreign workers: 126 Myanmar nationals and 29 Cambodians. Document checks revealed that 76 had valid permits, while the remaining 79 were in violation. Specifically, 62 Myanmar and 15 Cambodian workers were found to have overstayed their visas under Section 38 of the Immigration Act. Additionally, two Cambodians were charged with illegal entry and unauthorized employment.

In the second operation, officers swept a worker camp at the Rojana Industrial Park in Laem Chabang. There, 242 migrant workers were present: 199 from Myanmar, 41 from Cambodia, and 2 from Laos. Violations included 57 Myanmar and 9 Cambodian workers under Section 38, three Myanmar workers employed by unregistered employers, and 23 others breaching Section 37 of the Act.

All individuals found in violation from both sites were detained and transferred to local police investigators for formal charges and further legal proceedings under Thai immigration law.

The raids show ongoing efforts by Thai authorities to enforce migrant labor regulations in key industrial and construction hubs in Chonburi Province.
