Banglamung, Chonburi – December 18th, 2025
A 54-year-old Dutch tourist was killed in a single-vehicle accident early Wednesday morning when he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed into a parked trailer on a road skirting Mapprachan Reservoir.
Police were alerted to the incident at approximately 1:10 a.m. on the road adjacent to the reservoir, near Wat Khao Pho Thong in the Pong sub-district. Pol. Lt. Siriyaporn Kongpetchsak, deputy investigator at Nongprue Police Station, coordinated with rescue volunteers from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation in Pattaya to respond immediately.
At the scene, responders found a heavily damaged black Yamaha Aerox motorcycle lying in the middle of the road. About 10 meters away lay the body of the victim, described as a heavyset foreign male wearing a white-and-black winter style jacket and black shorts. Rescue personnel attempted CPR, but he tragically succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The body was covered with a white sheet and the area secured.
Nearby, a pickup truck with an attached trailer was parked roadside. The trailer’s rear tire showed clear signs of impact damage, with the tire burst, believed to be the point of collision.
The truck owner, 40-year-old Jeerasak Salathong, told police he was resting upstairs in his home when he witnessed the crash. He observed the motorcycle rider traveling at high speed before he veered, sparked against the road, and overturned, ultimately striking the trailer parked in front of his house.
Investigators conducted a thorough examination of the scene, photographing evidence for records. They plan to review nearby CCTV footage to determine the exact cause of the accident.
The victim’s body was transferred to Pattaya Pathamakun Hospital for storage, pending contact with relatives for religious rites and repatriation procedures. His name was withheld by authorities pending contact to his embassy and relatives, who only released his age and nationality.
Road accidents involving motorcycles remain a concern in the Pattaya and greater Chonburi area, particularly on darker rural roads during late hours.
