Pattaya, December 10th, 2025 – Police in Banglamung district have arrested two Myanmar nationals barely hours after they allegedly snatched a 3-baht weight gold necklace worth over 167,000 baht from a fellow Myanmar resident.
The robbery took place when the two suspects approached the victim, Mr Mying Aung (Myanmar national), pretending to be interested in renting a room at his property. While inside, one of the suspects suddenly grabbed the gold necklace from the neck of the victim’s mother before the pair fled on a white Honda Lead scooter with no registration plate. The entire incident was clearly captured on CCTV.

Acting on orders from Pol Col Sarawut Nuchanart, Superintendent of Banglamung Police Station, the investigation team worked around the clock. Officers discovered that the suspects later attached a fake red temporary plate (registration ขข-4002 Pattaya) to the motorcycle and changed clothes to avoid detection.

Following leads, police located the getaway scooter parked outside a rented room (Room 3) in Soi Thung Klom-Tan Man 27, Nong Prue sub-district. Inside the room, officers found a Myanmar man and woman who immediately showed signs of guilt and attempted to flee.

The suspects were identified as:
– Mr Maw Aung, 27 years old
– Ms Ma Su, 30 years old
When shown the CCTV footage, both admitted to the crime and led police to clothing and items used during the robbery.
Seized evidence included:
– White Honda Lead motorcycle bearing the fake red plate ขข-4002 Pattaya
– Navy blue collared shirt worn during the offence
– One 1-salung weight gold ring
– One pair of ½-salung dolphin-design gold earrings
– One pair of star-design gold earrings
– Two purchase receipts from Yeowarat Gold Shop.
The suspects confessed they sold the stolen 3-baht necklace for 167,000 baht and used part of the money to buy the recovered gold jewellery. They claimed they committed the crime because they were unemployed and needed money to support their four children. Police also discovered that both suspects’ passports had expired, making their presence in Thailand illegal.

The pair have been charged with:
1. Jointly committing robbery by snatching property using a vehicle to facilitate the offence or escape
2. Remaining in the Kingdom as aliens without permission
Both suspects, along with all recovered evidence, have been transferred to Banglamung Police investigators for legal proceedings.
