Pattaya, Thailand – December 9th, 2025
The Sanctuary of Truth (Prasat Satchatham) in Pattaya hosted a grand interfaith ceremony uniting leaders and followers from five religions – Buddhism, Christianity, Islam, Hinduism (Brahmanism), and Sikhism – to pay tribute to His Royal Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great (Rama IX) and Her Royal Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother.
The event, held in remembrance of the royal couple’s immense contributions to the nation, began with an early-morning alms-giving ceremony. Mr. Pijarn and Mrs. Worakorn Viriyapant, executives of the Sanctuary of Truth and organisers of the event, led participants in offering dry food and essentials to 100 Buddhist monks and 400 novice monks ordained as part of the royal merit-making.
At 09:20, Mrs. Worakorn Viriyapant presided over the main five-religion merit-making ritual. Religious leaders from each faith joined Pattaya City Council President Mr. Banlue Kulavanich and many devotees in prayers that highlighted the late King’s tireless dedication, boundless compassion, and steadfast adherence to the Ten Royal Virtues, as well as his role as the supreme patron who supported all religions equally.
Speakers expressed how His Majesty’s impartial patronage enabled Thailand’s diverse communities – regardless of ethnicity or faith – to live together in lasting peace and harmony.
The ceremony was complemented by an exhibition honouring King Bhumibol’s life and legacy, displays replicating several royal-initiated projects, and a blood donation drive organised by Pattaya-Patmnakun Hospital.
