The Justice Ministry’s Central Institute of Forensic Science has confirmed that cyanide was detected at lethal levels in the body of male journalist Natthawut Ponglanka, 35, who was found dead in his home in Bang Kruai, Nonthaburi, late last month.
Authorities were alerted on November 30th, 2025, when police received a report of a death inside a two‑storey townhouse in Bang Kruai. Investigators, accompanied by forensic doctors and rescue foundation staff, discovered Mr. Natthawut lying lifeless on a mat in the ground‑floor living room. No signs of struggle or physical assault were observed at the scene.
On December 4th, forensic doctors initially informed investigators that toxic substances had been detected in the victim’s body, pending further analysis. The official autopsy results, released on December 5th, confirmed the presence of cyanide in both the bloodstream and stomach at concentrations capable of causing death.
The findings establish cyanide poisoning as the cause of death, providing crucial evidence for the ongoing police investigation. Officials have forwarded the forensic report to investigators for use in legal proceedings.
Mr. Natthawut, a reporter for a well‑known Thai television channel, was widely recognized in media circles. His sudden death has raised serious concerns and prompted calls for a thorough inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the case.
