Pattaya Joins Forces with Tourism Department to Shape Creative Nightlife Tourism Blueprint

Pattaya, December 3rd, 2025 – Senior city leaders gathered yesterday for the second high-level workshop set at transforming Pattaya into Thailand’s pioneer “Creative Nightlife Tourism” destination, as part of a national push to develop sustainable and high-value nighttime economies.

Held on the second of December 2025 at 13:30 at the Dee Room at Pattaya Discovery Beach Hotel, the workshop was led by the Department of Tourism under the Ministry of Tourism and Sports. Pattaya City was represented by Deputy Mayor Damrongkiat Pinijkarn, Korn Phatthanasin (Assistant Secretary to the Mayor), Pattaya City Council President Banlue Kullavanich, and Council Secretary Bancha Kullavanich, along with relevant municipal officers.

The initiative falls under the national strategy to create high-value tourism experiences rooted in local identity while introducing innovative new formats. The ultimate goal is to generate stable income for communities and the country through a fun, safe, and creative nighttime economy that can be replicated in major and secondary cities nationwide.

This marked the second workshop for Chonburi’s pilot area (city-level: Pattaya City), following the first session held in October. Participants from both public and private sectors brainstormed key development components, including:

– Conceptual master plans and spatial zoning for creative nighttime tourism zones
– Nighttime tourism routes linking core and surrounding areas
– Best-practice governance and management models for nighttime tourism
– Methods to measure and collect area-specific nighttime tourism revenue

Discussions also focused on establishing a standardized index for tracking nighttime tourism income that aligns with Thailand’s broader creative and cultural tourism indicators.

Deputy Mayor Damrongkiat Pinijkarn welcomed the teamwork, stating that Pattaya is fully committed to working with the Department of Tourism and private business owners to position the city as the national benchmark for creative, safe, and sustainable nightlife tourism.

The outcomes of the workshop will feed into a national Creative Nightlife Tourism network connecting government agencies, private operators, and industry professionals at local, regional, and policy levels. Pattaya is expected to serve as the flagship model when the finalized framework is rolled out across Thailand in the coming years.
