Pattaya, 24 November 2025 – Pattaya City Mayor Poramese Ngampichet attended a high-level meeting this afternoon at the 3rd-floor conference room of Chonburi Provincial Hall to receive policy guidelines on supervision and monitoring of regional government operations from Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Suchart Chomklin.
The meeting was opened with a welcome address by Chonburi Governor Norit Niramaiwong. In attendance were Chonburi Provincial Administration Organisation President Wittaya Khunpluem, Banglamung District Chief Patcharapat Sritanyanon, heads of government agencies, and representatives from the Eastern Seaboard provinces of Chonburi, Chachoengsao, and Rayong. The session focused on translating central government directives into concrete local actions, particularly in urban management, improving quality of life, advancing key national projects, and addressing operational challenges.

During the meeting, Mayor Poramese reported on Pattaya’s current priorities, highlighting the sensitive issue of construction within 100 metres of the coastline. He stressed the need for careful management of these environmentally vulnerable areas to ensure full compliance with the law and prevent damage to coastal ecosystems. The mayor cited the Lan Pho Market area in Naklua as a specific example requiring particular attention.

Deputy Prime Minister Suchart Chomklin outlined the government’s objectives, stating:
“This policy direction is to enhance coordination efficiency between central and local authorities while establishing clear standards for project monitoring. The goal is to sustain development in the Eastern region and genuinely meet the people’s needs in urban management, quality-of-life improvement, and the advancement of major government initiatives.”

He urged local agencies to quickly identify and submit key public demands, especially those concerning livelihoods, so that government policies can be implemented precisely and tangibly. The Deputy Prime Minister also specifically asked the Pattaya Mayor to intensify marine safety measures for tourists, following this boating incident over the past weekend with a group of Thai nationals out fishing, showing that safety is fundamental to Pattaya’s status as a world-class international tourism destination.

The meeting is regarded as a big step in strengthening central–local collaboration and ensuring that major government projects proceed effectively and deliver measurable results for the public.
