PATTAYA, Chonburi – A 35-year-old woman has surrendered to police after stabbing her 45-year-old neighbour in a fit of rage triggered by a toxic mix of jealousy, insults, and escalating disputes. The attacker even packed a bag of clothes, declaring she was “ready to go to prison.”
The stabbing occurred shortly before 6:15 p.m. on Saturday the 23rd of November, in a row of rented rooms in Soi Chularat.The victim, Ms Thongsuk (pseudonym), 45, a day labourer, suffered a 10-centimetre gash under her left ribcage after being stabbed once with a 15 cm folding knife. Bleeding heavily, she was rushed by neighbours on a motorcycle to the Chayapruek rescue point on Sukhumvit Road, about 500 metres away, where Sawangboriboon Rescue volunteers gave first aid before transferring her to Pattaya City Hospital.
Police arriving at the scene found the assailant, Ms Kung (pseudonym), 35, calmly waiting to turn herself in. She voluntarily led officers to the folded knife used in the attack and had already packed a small bag of clothing.According to Ms Kung, the trouble began the previous day (22 November) when her long-term partner of over ten years, Ms Som (pseudonym), 38, who is a relative of the victim and lives in the adjacent room, accused her of having an intimate relationship with Ms Thongsuk. During that argument, Ms Som allegedly beat Ms Kung severely.Ms Kung told police that while she was being assaulted, the victim shouted an obscene statement over the wall.Enraged, Ms Kung smashed the victim’s louvered glass window. Police were called but both parties initially agreed to settle the matter.On Saturday evening, believing the victim was out, Ms Kung returned to the room to discuss repairing the broken window. Instead, she heard Ms Thongsuk cursing loudly with obscene language. Ms Kung shouted back, “Haven’t you finished yet?” The exchange quickly escalated into a heated argument, and in a moment of fury, Ms Kung grabbed the folding knife and stabbed the victim once before immediately regretting her actions.
“I’m not running anywhere,” Ms Kung told officers through tears. “I’ve packed my clothes. I’m ready to go to jail. I accept what I did.”Ms Som, the girlfriend, also tearfully admitted that extreme jealousy on her part had sparked the entire chain of events. She confirmed she had physically attacked Ms Kung the previous day after believing the victim’s provocative claims.Police have taken Ms Kung into custody at Pattaya City Police Station for questioning and formal charges of serious physical assault. Officers are waiting for the victim to recover sufficiently before taking her official complaint and confirming whether she wishes to press charges. Legal proceedings will follow accordingly.
