SRIRACHA, November 22nd, 2025
Somdech Phra Borommaratchathewi Hospital in Sriracha successfully carried out a full-scale fire emergency and high-rise evacuation drill on the 7th floor (Zone B) of the Srisavarindira Memorial Building, marking the hospital’s 150th anniversary.

The scenario simulated a real-life electrical fire: a staff member detected a burning smell, followed by smoke and sparks from a faulty fan plug near a physiotherapy bed. The fire quickly spread to the mattress, producing heavy smoke. Hospital personnel attempted to extinguish the blaze with fire extinguishers but were unable to contain it, triggering the activation of the full emergency response protocol.

Staff immediately alerted the Sriracha Municipality Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department and initiated building-wide evacuation procedures. Patients, staff, and visitors were safely guided to designated assembly points following established evacuation routes.

Mr. Praphas Charoensantisuk, Deputy Mayor of Sriracha Municipality, led municipal fire and rescue teams to the scene to support fire suppression and evacuation efforts. All individuals were accounted for through roll-call checks, with no one left behind.

The drill was directed by Dr. Wittaya Chokchaipaisal, Deputy Director of Somdech Phra Borommaratchathewi Hospital at Sriracha, who stated that the exercise was to:
– Raise awareness of fire safety protocols
– Ensure correct use of firefighting equipment
– Build proficiency in evacuating high-rise buildings and assisting vulnerable patients
– Boost confidence among patients, visitors, and staff in the hospital’s emergency preparedness

Hospital officials stated that regular drills of this kind are essential for maintaining the highest safety standards and ensuring rapid, effective responses in genuine emergencies.
