Pattaya, November 21st 2025 – The city of Pattaya officially kicked off the “Kizuna Pattaya International Badminton Sawasdee Cup 2025” this morning with a grand opening ceremony held at the Eastern National Sports Training Center in Chonburi Province.
The ceremony was presided over by Mr. Kor Tapp Rangsi, former President of the Badminton World Federation (BWF), joined by Pattaya City Mayor Mr. Poramese Ngampichet, senior city officials, and Mr. Ryosuke Abe, President of the sponsoring company, who delivered welcoming remarks to athletes and guests.

Now in its 12th year, the three-day tournament (21–23 November 2025) is co-organized by Pattaya City, FYC Badminton Club, and the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT). The event is designed to elevate sports tourism, stimulate the local economy, and solidify Pattaya’s vision of becoming a leading “Sports City” while promoting sustainable “Sports Tourism” development.

The competition features men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles, mixed doubles, and youth categories, attracting a star-studded lineup of international players, including:
– Tan Chun Man and Tse Ying Suet (Hong Kong), 2025 Badminton Asia Championships mixed-doubles champions
– Lee Cheuk Yiu (Hong Kong), current world No. 18
– Wakana Nagahara (Japan), former world champion in women’s doubles (2018–2019)
– Top athletes from China and Korea
– Thai badminton legend Boonsak Ponsana
– Special appearance this year by Thai superstar “View” Kulwut Vitidsarn, the reigning men’s singles world champion and national favourite
Pattaya City Mayor Poramese Ngampichet stated:
“This tournament showcases Pattaya’s full capability to host world-class international sporting events. It not only boosts the local economy but also builds global confidence in Pattaya as a premier destination. We are delighted to welcome athletes and visitors and hope everyone enjoys an unforgettable experience in our city.”
