Pattaya, Thailand – The Pattaya Public Health Department, together with village health volunteers, successfully organized a community health training session under the project “Building Participation Networks for Health Care” on the topic “Rational Use of Medicines.”
Held with a warm and lively atmosphere, the event is to empower local residents with essential knowledge for better health and encourage everyone in the community to take an active role in looking after their own and their neighbours’ well-being.

Participants kicked off the day with a health-promoting exercise campaign before diving into the core content. The training featured pre- and post-session quizzes to measure knowledge gains, followed by an in-depth lecture covering key topics such as:
– The World Health Organization’s framework on rational medicine use
– The “5 Don’ts and 5 Dos” of rational drug use
– Proper use of household remedies
– The dangers and consequences of inappropriate antibiotic use
Attendees also shared valuable real-life experiences on preventing non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in the community, creating an engaging exchange that strengthened both knowledge and practical skills for long-term health care.

The event displays Pattaya’s ongoing commitment to building a strong, self-reliant health network at the grassroots level, with village health volunteers playing a central role in driving sustainable change.
