Pattaya, November 19 2025 – Popular Thai comedian Foy Thong Chuen Yim and child star Paeng Fun, along with several other performers, have been left out of pocket after a fraudulent organiser vanished with more than 430,000 baht in fees for a concert.
The incident occurred on the night of November 18th at an open-air venue near the entrance to Soi Khao Talo. The event featured food and drink stalls and was supposed to showcase Foy Thong Chuen Yim, the comedy troupe, young singer Paeng Fun, and the band The Lamud from Phetchaburi.
According to the victims, a woman calling herself “Wa” (wearing a pink long-sleeved top and trousers in photos circulated by the artists) and her husband posed as legitimate event organisers. They collected the full 430,000 baht payment from the actual venue owner in advance as the organizers and middlemen but refused to pay any of the performers before they went on stage, citing a rule that artists must perform first.
Foy Thong told reporters on Wednesday morning:
“We waited the entire night. They kept promising to pay ‘after the show’ and then ‘tomorrow morning’. By noon the next day their phones were switched off. We later discovered they had already taken the money from the real venue owner meant to be for the performers, having promised the owner they would deal with paying all the performers, and instead disappeared.”
Investigations by the artists revealed the fake couple had apparently borrowed large sums from loan sharks and were paying daily interest, leading police to suspect the stolen funds were used to settle personal debts.
The real venue owner has come forward to clear his name and show he had nothing to do with the scam, having been scammed himself essentially, and accompanied the performers to Banglamung Police Station on Tuesday night to file an official complaint against the imposters for fraud and breach of contract. Police have cleared the venue owner from any wrongdoing.
Foy Thong has circulated photographs of himself posing with the female scammer, known to some victims as “Nok To”, urging anyone with information about the couple to contact police.
Officers confirmed a daily log entry has been made and the case is now under active investigation. The performers say they lost not only their fees but also travel expenses and an entire day’s work.
Police warn event organisers and artists to verify identities and use written contracts with clear payment terms to prevent similar scams in the future.
