Officers from Banglamung Police Station in Chonburi province traveled to the capital early Wednesday morning and arrested a 37-year-old suspected drug courier, seizing more than a kilogram of crystal methamphetamine (“ice”), 260 grams of heroin, and 1,500 methamphetamine tablets (“yaba”).
The suspect, identified as Mr. Anupong Wetchareuangphon (alias “Nu Phra Ram 3”), was apprehended at 6:00 a.m. inside a rented apartment in the Yannawa district of Bangkok.
Police Col. Sarawut Nuchanart, Chief of Banglamung Police Station, led the operation alongside Deputy Investigation Chief Pol. Lt. Col. Kornpong Sukwisit and Investigation Unit Commander Pol. Lt. Col. Wuttiphong Kasa.

The breakthrough began several weeks earlier when Banglamung police noticed an influx of distinctive orange-colored yaba tablets circulating heavily in the Pattaya area — a color variation rarely seen in typical seizures. Undercover investigations traced the supply line back to a major dealer in Bangkok.
After identifying Mr. Anupong as the key distributor, officers posed as food-delivery riders early Wednesday. Wearing wigs and carrying food bags for cover, the team arranged a controlled buy of crystal methamphetamine outside the apartment block. When the still-groggy suspect emerged carrying the drugs, police immediately revealed themselves and placed him under arrest.

A search of his room uncovered the full stash:
– 1.2 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine (ice)
– 260 grams of heroin (powder form)
– 1,500 orange yaba tablets
– Drug paraphernalia
The narcotics were concealed inside traditional monk’s alms-bowl piggy banks and a coded combination safe.
During interrogation, Mr. Anupong confessed that the drugs belonged to a larger network and that his role was that of a “pilot” or courier. He admitted to receiving 500 baht per delivery to drop packages at designated locations. He also confirmed supplying the distinctive orange yaba tablets that had flooded Pattaya and surrounding areas in Chonburi province in recent weeks.

Police have taken the suspect back to Banglamung Police Station for further expansion of the case and intend to charge him with serious offenses under the Narcotics Act, including possession with intent to distribute and use of illegal drugs. He will later be transferred to Yannawa Police Station in Bangkok for formal prosecution.
Authorities say the investigation remains active as they work to dismantle the wider network responsible for pushing these drugs into the popular tourist region of Pattaya.
