Chonburi Torch Relay Kicks Off for 33rd SEA Games as District Chiefs and Local Leaders Join Historic Run

CHONBURI, Thailand – District chiefs, local leaders, and politicians took part in a ceremonial torch relay on Sunday afternoon, marking the official buildup to the 33rd SEA Games 2025, which Thailand will host across four provinces: Bangkok, Chonburi (In Pattaya and Jomtien) Songkhla, and Nakhon Ratchasima.

The event, organized by Chonburi Province and the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) Chonburi, began at approximately 1:30 p.m. on November 16th, 2025, at Daikin Industries (Thailand) Ltd. in the Amata Nakorn Industrial Estate. The sacred flame was carried along Sukhumvit Road, passing through Bangsaen, Sri Racha, and Banglamung districts, before later concluding at Bali Hai Pier in Pattaya.

The relay is to promote the Games, build community involvement, and ensure a warm welcome for athletes from across Southeast Asia, leaving lasting impressions on international visitors.

As the torch entered Sri Racha District, Samrit Pongvirat, Secretary of the Chonburi Provincial Sports Association, handed it to Weekit Manarojkit, Sri Racha District Chief. The flame was then passed among prominent local figures, including:

– **Somjet Phanthachalermchai**, Deputy Mayor of Chonburi City Municipality
– **Anusak Phiriyom**, Sattahip District Chief
– **Penpassorn Tongsiri**, General Manager of Central Sri Racha
– **Nanthawat Thongchuang**, Bo Thong District Chief
– Representatives from Sri Racha Municipality
– **Ekasit Armcha-on** and **Chaturaphon Boonchob**, Chonburi Provincial Council members
– **Chusak Nantithanyathada**, Koh Si Chang District Chief
– **Phatcharaphat Srithanyanon**, Banglamung District Chief

The relay concluded with participants joining the final leg to Bali Hai Pier, symbolizing unity and readiness as Chonburi prepares to co-host one of Southeast Asia’s largest sporting events.
