A blazing inferno on overhead communication cables triggered a series of loud explosions Friday evening, sending panic through the Ton Krabok Na Kluea neighborhood. Quick action by locals and rescue crews luckily prevented any spread to nearby homes.
At 8:00 p.m., Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation rescuers received reports of flames and intermittent blasts along power poles in front of residences in the community. Firefighters and utility teams were immediately dispatched.
Arriving at the scene, crews found residents frantically hosing down shop rooftops as embers rained from the burning cables. Flames engulfed utility poles and tangled wires, producing crackling detonations that echoed through the streets. Sawang Boriboon deployed a water-tanker truck, dousing the blaze with foam until the fire was extinguished—though stray sparks persisted briefly before dying out.
Preliminary assessments revealed extensive damage to electrical and telecom lines. Fortunately, the flames did not reach any buildings, leaving no injuries or property loss.
Local residents urged authorities to inspect and reorganize the chaotic web of dangling cables, citing multiple prior incidents. They warned that without urgent action, a future blaze could escalate into a catastrophe threatening lives and homes.
