A grocery store in the Bo Win subdistrict fell victim to a cunning scam on Saturday afternoon, where a man posed as a customer to exchange cash for cigarettes while adding a “service fee,” only to flee after showing a counterfeit transaction slip. The incident, captured on CCTV, resulted in losses totaling 588 baht.

The event took place at approximately 2:30 p.m. inside a large grocery shop located at house number 116/133 along the road leading to Apex Condo. According to the victim, 14-year-old Anchalee Yaem Phio, daughter of the store owner, the shop was bustling with customers at the time.

A man entered and requested to scan a QR code to receive 500 baht in cash and purchase one pack of cigarettes, offering an additional 20 baht as a service fee. After handing over the cash and cigarettes, he quickly displayed an unusual-looking slip, which Anchalee did not immediately verify amid the chaos.

The suspect then mounted a motorcycle and sped away. About 15 minutes later, upon checking the account, Anchalee discovered no funds had been transferred.

The matter was reported to local authorities around 5:00 p.m. Village headman Apichat Nun Chuay of Moo 3, Bo Win, dispatched an assistant to investigate the scene. Anchalee plans to file an official police report at Bo Win Police Station on Sunday and has asked the village headman to warn other local businesses to prevent similar incidents.

Police are reviewing CCTV footage to identify the perpetrator. The total damage includes 500 baht in cash and 88 baht for the cigarettes.
