Delivery Worker Found Dead in Dorm Room After Sri Racha Doctor Visit, Drug Paraphernalia Discovered

Sri Racha, Chonburi – November 6th, 2025 – A 33-year-old delivery company employee was discovered deceased in his rented room under mysterious circumstances, more than three days after messaging his supervisor to take leave for a medical appointment. The grim find, prompted by a foul odor reported by a neighbor, revealed drug paraphernalia linked to methamphetamine use, though no signs of foul play were evident.

The incident came to light around 9:30 a.m. when the Sri Racha Bright Light Rescue Center received a distress call about a body at a dormitory in Moo 11. Responding officers, led by Police Lieutenant Colonel Kongpol Dechakamphu, Sub-Inspector of Nong Kham Police Station, along with patrol units and rescue personnel, forced entry into Room 532/45 on the second floor.

Inside, rescuers were met with an overpowering stench as they encountered the body of Mr. Thawatchai Naen Udom, lying face-up on a thin mat serving as his bed, in front of a TV stand. The corpse was bloated and decomposing, clad in a white T-shirt and gray sweatpants. A fan lay crushed beneath him, still plugged in and running, alongside a charged mobile phone and tangled extension cords. Initial assessments indicated he had been dead for at least three days, with no visible injuries or evidence of a struggle—no ransacked belongings or forced entry.

A search of the room uncovered several empty medication packets on the TV stand, consistent with recent abdominal surgery treatment. Scattered nearby were multiple spent lighters and paraphernalia associated with methamphetamine (known locally as “yaba”) consumption, including pipes and cigarette remnants. No other valuables appeared missing.

Mr. Virach Kitsuk, 59, the dormitory’s on-site technician, told The Pattaya News how a fellow resident alerted him to a rotting garbage-like smell emanating from the room. After unsuccessful attempts by the landlord to reach Mr. Thawatchai via phone and Line app, Virach knocked three times with no response. Noticing swarms of flies around the window and the intensifying odor, he unlocked the door. “The smell hit like a wave—it was shocking. I peeked in and saw him right there,” Virach said. He noted that Mr. Thawatchai, originally from Ban Mo subdistrict, lived alone and kept to himself.

Mr. Thawatchai’s department supervisor, who requested anonymity, confirmed the timeline via Line messages. “On Sunday, he messaged our manager saying he needed time off to see a doctor and get blood drawn. About three months ago, he’d had intestinal surgery—we didn’t know the details, but we knew about his chronic gut issues. We lightened his workload afterward since he wasn’t fully recovered,” the supervisor explained. “We assumed he was resting after the visit. It wasn’t until today, when colleagues mentioned the news, that we learned he’d passed.”

Preliminary investigations suggest natural causes related to his pre-existing condition, but authorities are awaiting autopsy results from the Institute of Forensic Medicine to confirm. Rescue teams transported the body for examination, while police photographed the scene and collected evidence, including the drug items for further analysis.
