Foreign Couple Rides Motorcycle on Jomtien Beach Sand, Sparks Outrage

Pattaya, Chonburi – A video of a foreign couple casually riding a motorcycle along the sandy shore of Jomtien Beach has gone viral, drawing sharp criticism from netizens who dubbed it the “new beachfront highway.”

The two-minute clip was posted at around 9:00 p.m. on November 3 by the Facebook page Pattaya The Series. It shows the pair cruising down the beach, tires sinking into the sand, waves lapping just meters away. The caption read: “How did they even get here?! Motorcycle on Jomtien Beach—which lane is this?! Did I see that right?! #JomtienBeach.”

The post exploded online, racking up thousands of comments and shares. Many mocked the scene, with one viral quip: “This is the new express lane on Jomtien Beach Road.”

In the video, the filmer can be heard exclaiming in disbelief: “I’ve never seen anything like this in my life. Is this allowed? Or is this the new shortcut to the famous crab restaurant? Police need to set up a checkpoint and crack down on traffic here!”

Reporters visited the site the next morning (November 4th) at 9:00 a.m. The incident occurred in front of Wat Krating Thong. Clear tire tracks stretched over 500–600 meters along the sand between two speedboat docks (Dock 1 and Dock 2).

Mr. Ae, 33, a beach umbrella and deckchair vendor, told reporters such incidents are rare but not unheard of. “Usually it’s teenagers on electric scooters messing around,” he said. “This time, I think the tourists were drunk and just rode down for fun.”

The person who filmed the video, Mr. Samart Somron, 42, said he was relaxing on the beach that night when he spotted the couple—believed to be in a relationship—riding onto the sand. “They went all the way to the end of Jomtien,” he told The Pattaya News. “I was shocked, so I pulled out my phone and recorded it. I posted it for friends to see. This is the first time I’ve ever witnessed something like this.”
