Phanat Nikhom, Chonburi – October 31st, 2025 – The Governor of Chonburi, Mr. Naris Niramaiwong, has taken immediate action to resolve complaints of wastewater pollution from a local factory affecting public waterways in Phanat Nikhom District.
At 11:00 a.m. on October 31st, 2025, under the governor’s directives, Ms. Arunrat Phumcharoen, the District Chief of Phanat Nikhom, assigned Ms. Nichcha Thaweeyoskirati to lead an on-site inspection. The team included officials from the Chonburi Provincial Industry Office, the Na Matum Subdistrict Administrative Organization, community leaders, and resident representatives.

The investigation focused on reports of hardship caused by a box company which allegedly discharged untreated wastewater into a public canal. Initial findings confirmed the issue, prompting the company to implement preliminary remedies on the spot.
Company representatives agreed to seal the treatment pond’s discharge pipe to prevent any further outflow beyond the factory premises. They also committed to cleaning the on-site treatment pond area.

The Chonburi Provincial Industry Office collected water samples from the treatment pond for laboratory analysis to determine contamination levels. Additionally, the Phanat Nikhom District Justice Center (Dhamma Center) scheduled a follow-up inspection for November 3rd, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. to verify the effectiveness of the corrective measures.

Local residents expressed relief at the prompt response, noting that the polluted water had impacted community health and the environment. Authorities stated their commitment to enforcing environmental regulations and ensuring accountability for industrial operators. Further updates will follow the sample analysis and later site visit.
