Sri Racha, Chonburi – October 30th, 2025
A Toyota van was completely destroyed by fire early Thursday morning while being towed by a pickup truck after breaking down on a major road in Sri Racha district, Chonburi province. Firefighters managed to extinguish the blaze within 15 minutes, but the vehicle was reduced to a charred shell.
The incident occurred at approximately 1:10 a.m. on Sukhumvit Road, just before the Sri Racha District Office. The Sri Racha Municipal Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Radio Center received a report of the burning vehicle, registered as อษ 9315 Bangkok. Responders from the center’s second unit immediately dispatched two fire engines—Koh Loy 2 and Koh Loy 82—to the scene and brought the flames under control.
According to witnesses, the van’s driver—a young woman—had been operating the gasoline-powered Toyota when it suddenly malfunctioned. She pulled over near the entrance to the district office and called her father for help. He arrived in a pickup truck and began towing the van toward the office grounds, planning to leave it there overnight until a mechanic could retrieve it in the morning.
As the vehicles entered the district office area, thick smoke began billowing from the engine compartment. The father quickly stopped, but the fire erupted rapidly, engulfing the entire van. Preliminary investigations by firefighters suggest the blaze may have been caused by a fuel leak in the oil system, which ignited upon contact with a spark.
No injuries were reported, and authorities are continuing to assess the exact cause of the mechanical failure and subsequent fire.
