Chonburi, Thailand – October 29th, 2025

A devastating multi-vehicle collision on Motorway 7 (Bangkok-Ban Chang route) heading toward Pattaya left three people dead and five injured in the early hours of Wednesday morning. The chain-reaction crash involved five vehicles.

The accident was reported to the Motorway Rescue Radio Center at approximately 2:30 a.m. near kilometer marker 86+900 in Tambon Bang Phra. Police Lieutenant Colonel Ratphon Warana, Deputy Chief of Highway Police Station 1 coordinated with highway rescue teams and the Pure Yang Tai Sri Racha Foundation volunteers to respond. At the scene, authorities discovered a chaotic pileup of five vehicles:
– A white Hino truck
– A white MG sedan
– A bronze Toyota Veloz van
– A white ION sedan
– A black Toyota Camry sedanFive injured individuals—men and women—were scattered across the roadway and rushed to hospitals in the Sri Racha District for urgent treatment. Three fatalities were confirmed on site:
– Ms. Jirawadee Thon Thong Daeng, 22, a good Samaritan who had stopped to direct traffic.
– Mr. Phanu Phan Rassameerat, 42, the Camry’s driver, found dead in front of his vehicle pinned against the central barrier.
– Mr. Yon Ki Young, 43, a South Korean tourist, who died inside the Camry.Preliminary investigations indicate the crash began when a sedan rear-ended the Hino truck. Ms. Jirawadee, acting as a good Samaritan, exited her vehicle to wave down oncoming traffic and warn drivers of the hazard. Tragically, approaching vehicles traveling at high speeds failed to brake in time, triggering a series of collisions.Mr. Phanu Phan had been driving from Pattaya to Suvarnabhumi Airport to pick up his friend, Mr. Yon, for a holiday in Pattaya. The pair were en route back when the accident occurred.Montree Sammawatthanakul, 42, driver of the Toyota Veloz and one of the injured, told investigators he was returning from a funeral in Bangkok with friends. Driving over 100 km/h, he said he did not see the initial crash or any warnings before slamming on the brakes. “The next thing I remember, everything went black,” he told The Pattaya News in a dazed state.Highway police will conduct a full scene examination and interview all involved parties once the injured have stabilized. The investigation aims to determine the exact sequence of events and any contributing factors, such as speed or visibility issues in the pre-dawn darkness.
