Banglamung Officials Inspect Illegal Waste Dumping in Takhian Tia Following Residents Complaints

Following a report by Athip Burapha journalists, who investigated the area behind “Sai Kaew” village in Takhian Tia Sub-district, specifically in Soi Takhian Tia 16, also known as Soi Na Ta Rot, authorities have taken action. The investigation was prompted by complaints from local residents about individuals irresponsibly dumping waste, turning the area into a “center of filth” and a breeding ground for disease near a residential community. The garbage has caused air pollution from foul odors and smoke from burning waste, severely impacting residents. Some locals even spray-painted signs on walls prohibiting waste burning due to the toxic smoke, but their efforts have been in vain, as previously reported.

On October 24th, 2025, Mr. Natthawat Sophonsewatsilp, Deputy District Chief of Banglamung, representing Mr. Patcharapat Srithanyanon, Banglamung District Chief, led a team of administrative officers from Banglamung District, along with local authorities from Takhian Tia Sub-district Municipality. The team included Mr. Wachira Sujoe and Mr. Khwanyuen Prasattham, Deputy Mayors of Takhian Tia Sub-district Municipality, municipal executives, public health officials, disaster prevention and mitigation staff, municipal enforcement officers, and municipal employees. They inspected the site behind Sai Kaew village, Moo 2.

Preliminary actions include instructions from Banglamung District for local authorities to determine whether the land is public or privately owned and to identify the landowner to coordinate waste management efforts. The district also directed Takhian Tia Sub-district Municipality to deploy security personnel alongside administrative officers. If manpower is insufficient, the municipality can request additional support from the district.

Takhian Tia Sub-district Municipality clarified that they have regularly fined individuals caught illegally dumping waste. However, some offenders claim they cannot afford the fines, eliciting sympathy. To address the issue further, the municipality proposed installing CCTV cameras and organizing the area. Funding for this project has already been secured from the Chonburi Provincial Administrative Organization, with plans to clear the site and install warning signs in the near future.

The Takhian Tia Sub-district Municipality urges all residents to refrain from dumping waste in public areas and to cooperate in maintaining community cleanliness. This collective effort aims to make Takhian Tia a livable, clean, and orderly place for all.
