PATTAYA, Thailand – In a coordinated effort to combat drug trafficking, authorities in Banglamung District, under the direction of Chonburi Governor Naris Niramaiwong, arrested two suspected drug dealers in a sting operation in Pattaya’s Soi Korphai. The operation was led by District Chief Patcharapat Sritanyanon, who assigned Wanchai Wannaprom, Head of Administrative Affairs, along with Kamphrai Laosaen and other district officials, to work alongside Pattaya City Police.
The operation followed a tip received via the “Banglamung Broken Down” Line application, where residents reported drug trafficking activities by a group of young dealers in Pattaya. After an investigation, police identified Narongsak Sawangwong, aged approximately 30, as a key suspect involved in distributing drugs to local youths.
Authorities devised a plan to conduct an undercover buy, arranging for an informant to purchase crystal methamphetamine (locally known as “ice”) from Narongsak. The transaction was set to take place in front of a hotel in Soi Korphai. When Narongsak arrived to deliver the drugs, officers moved in to apprehend him. Despite an attempt to flee, he was quickly detained. A search revealed 4.90 grams of crystal methamphetamine on his person, with an additional 2.63 grams found in a black shoulder bag he was carrying.
Following the arrest, authorities expanded their investigation, searching a room at the hotel where Narongsak was apprehended. Information led them to Pimwilawan Ubua, a woman suspected of delivering drugs to the same location. Officers set up an ambush and arrested Pimwilawan and her boyfriend when they arrived at the hotel room. A search uncovered 50 methamphetamine pills hidden in a blue zip-lock bag inside her undergarments, along with two additional bags of crystal methamphetamine weighing 5.54 grams concealed behind a bathroom mirror. Drug paraphernalia, a digital scale, and several zip-lock bags were also seized.
Both suspects were taken into custody and handed over to Pattaya City Police Station investigators. They face charges of “jointly possessing Category 1 narcotics (methamphetamine and crystal methamphetamine) with intent to distribute.”
Authorities are continuing their investigation to uncover the broader drug trafficking network in Pattaya, aligning with Chonburi Governor’s “Chonburi Safe, Free from Drugs and Vice” policy.
