Thai Police and Health Officials Raid Clinic in Pattaya, Catching Repeat Offenders Red-Handed

Pattaya, Chonburi Province – October 17th, 2025 – Authorities from the Crime Suppression Division (CSD) of Region 2, in coordination with Chonburi Provincial Public Health Office (PPO), stormed an allegedly unlicensed medical clinic in Pattaya on Friday afternoon, arresting what they called a fake doctor and assistants for operating without proper medical qualifications. The clinic, notorious for repeat violations, was busted after months of surveillance.

The raid, launched at 2:15 p.m., was ordered by Pol. Maj. Gen. Kiertisak Sarathongoi, commander of CSD Region 2, and led by Pol. Col. Thianchai Loetmaneetawet, head of Investigation Unit 1. Accompanied by Jirasan Meeratthanawat, head of Consumer Protection and Public Pharmacy at Chonburi PPO, the team targeted a clinic on Soi Chaiyapreuk 2. Complaints had surfaced that the facility was allegedly providing general medical treatments without licensed physicians on site.

The three-story shophouse complex housed the clinic in the first unit and a massage parlor in the second. Undercover agents infiltrated the premises, posing as patients. After receiving treatment, medication, and paying, they signaled for the raid team to move in.

Inspectors found a well-organized setup: a front counter for registration and dispensing drugs, two examination rooms, and a recovery area with two beds. Several patients were waiting, and one was receiving IV fluids in the recovery room. The primary caregiver, 44-year-old Pansanya Udomta, could not produce a medical license and was detained along with 48-year-old assistant Worathan Inwanna, who handled patient histories. Both appeared visibly stressed during the arrest.

Document checks revealed a displayed operating license for the medical branch, but the license holder was absent. Authorities seized patient records, medical certificates, and antibiotics as evidence.

Clinic owner Wariya Khao Songtham, 52, was also apprehended. She claimed she leased the business in January 2025 and insisted a doctor usually staffed evenings from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., but financial losses—nearly 100,000 baht monthly—led to cutbacks. Tearfully confronting officials, she admitted fault but accused selective enforcement, shouting, “Why not raid the other clinics? Pattaya and Jomtien are full of them!” Officers de-escalated the situation before escorting the trio to Nongprue Police Station for further questioning.

CSD Region 2 investigators revealed the clinic was previously raided in May 2025 under the same ownership, yet it reopened illegally. “This poses severe risks,” a police source stated, noting treatments like injections, blood draws, and IVs were performed by unqualified individuals. After prolonged monitoring confirmed violations, PPO was looped in. Charges under the Medical Facility Establishment Act and for unlicensed medical practice are pending.
