Pattaya, Chonburi – October 15th, 2025– Pattaya City Mayor Poramase Ngampiches, accompanied by Deputy Mayor Manoch Nongyai and officials from the Sanitation Engineering Department, conducted an on-site inspection in Soi Naklua 20 and 22. The visit followed the recent transfer of over one rai of land to the city from a private citizen, which we covered here, designated for public use to improve drainage infrastructure and address chronic flooding issues in the area.
The land was donated by Boonrana Chawalitthamrong, manager of the estate of his late father, Prinya Chawalitthamrong. Originally, the site housed Pattaya City’s pumping station, but access relied on private property, hindering efficient operations and maintenance.

Mayor Poramase explained that the city had coordinated with the donor to legally acquire the space for public benefit. “We formally requested proper usage rights to overcome these logistical challenges,” he stated. Boonrana transferred two plots totaling more than one rai and 56 square wah (approximately 1.7 rai or 2,720 square meters) to Pattaya City on October 6th.
Moving forward, the city plans to develop the area into a public drainage system, including new pipelines and pathways. This initiative is to enhance water drainage efficiency and mitigate flooding in Naklua, a low-lying coastal neighborhood prone to waterlogging during heavy rains.

In an interview with The Pattaya News, Mayor Poramase discussed the project’s importance: “This development will boost our drainage capabilities and provide lasting relief from stagnant water problems for residents.”
The acquisition marks a step in Pattaya’s ongoing efforts to upgrade public utilities amid rapid urbanization and climate-related challenges in Chonburi Province. Further details on construction timelines will be announced as planning progresses.
