Heavy Rain Causes Severe Flooding in Parts of Pattaya During Long Holiday Weekend

PATTAYA, Thailand – On October 13th, 2025, at around 1:00 PM, Pattaya City in Chonburi Province was hit by relentless heavy rain lasting over an hour, leading to severe flooding in multiple areas. Low-lying zones, including Pattaya Third Road near the Phaniad Chang intersection, Sukhumvit Road at Soi Ha Thaan Wa, and Soi Khao Noi, were particularly hard-hit, with water levels reaching 50–60 centimeters in some spots.

The flooding rendered roads impassable for small vehicles and motorcycles, paralyzing traffic across the city. The situation was also complicated by the long holiday weekend, which saw a surge of tourists, causing extensive traffic jams stretching several kilometers.

Pattaya city officials and traffic police quickly mobilized to clear drainage systems and assist stranded motorists. Authorities issued warnings for drivers to avoid flooded routes and exercise extra caution.

Within one to two hours after the rain stopped, water levels began to recede, and normal traffic flow gradually resumed on many roads. However, officials remain on high alert for potential further rainfall this week. Jomtien, notably, avoided the rains entirely yesterday.
