PATTAYA, Thailand – On October 6th, 2025, the Pattaya Nightlife Business Association, led by President Lisa Hamilton, submitted a formal letter to Chonburi Senator Dr. Pratum Wongsawasdi, Vice-Chairman of the Senate Committee on Tourism and Sports. The association called for a review of Section 32 of the law, which prohibits the consumption of alcohol in venues selling or serving alcoholic beverages during restricted hours.

The delegation, comprising of association committee members, met with Dr. Pratum to express concerns that the regulation could severely impact nightlife operators, beachfront businesses, restaurants, and entertainment venues nationwide. These sectors heavily rely on tourism and nighttime services for revenue.

Lisa Hamilton stated that the strict enforcement of Section 32 could disrupt the livelihoods of many business owners and affect Thailand’s tourism-driven economy. She urged the government to reconsider the law to mitigate its potential negative effects. She also said the new law if enforced could even lead to corruption and extortion of foreign tourists by corrupt officials.

Dr. Pratum accepted the letter and assured the association that the matter would be urgently raised in the Senate Committee for discussion, aiming to find a fair and balanced solution for all.
The outcome of this appeal could influence the future of Thailand’s nightlife and tourism industries.
