Pattaya City Mayor Mr. Poramese Ngampichet chaired a meeting to review the site and environmental conditions for the planned Green Line tram public transportation system, part of a feasibility study, design, and environmental impact assessment for the development of a light rail tram system in Pattaya. The meeting, held at Meeting Room 234 in Pattaya City Hall, was attended by Deputy Mayor Mr. Manoch Nongyai, the Mayor’s Secretary, Assistant Secretary, City Clerk, department heads, and representatives from the Office of Natural Resources and Environmental Policy and Planning. Consulting firms provided detailed briefings on the project.
Pattaya City has engaged a consortium of consulting firms—Integrated Engineering Consultants Co., Ltd., Chee Consult Engineering Co., Ltd., and Planpro Co., Ltd.—to oversee the Green Line project. This initiative falls under a broader study to assess the feasibility, design, and environmental impact of a light rail tram system in Banglamung District, aiming to ensure smooth implementation and achieve the project’s objectives.
The meeting focused on presenting the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report for the Green Line, which is part of the broader public transportation development plan. The project encompasses four eventual main routes:
– Green Line: Pattaya Railway Station – Pattaya City – Thappraya – Bali Hai Pier
– Yellow Line (Commuter Rail):: Sriracha District – Pattaya Railway Station – Sattahip Port
– Purple Line: Thappraya – South Pattaya – Nongprue
– Red Line: Pattaya City – Thappraya – Jomtien 2nd Road – Nongprue
Discussions highlighted modern design approaches for the tram system and stations, ensuring compatibility with the local landscape and efficient integration with the Green Line’s connectivity. The Green Line has been designated as a pilot project to drive tangible progress in Pattaya’s public transportation development.
Following the meeting, the consulting firms and relevant officials conducted a field survey along the proposed 9.9-kilometer Green Line route, including the maintenance depot site and areas with planning constraints. The survey aimed to gather public feedback and assess the suitability of planned station locations. Should any areas prove unsuitable, alternative sites will be considered, with additional environmental impact studies conducted before presenting findings to the next meeting for further review.
