Chonburi, Thailand – The 154th Chonburi Buffalo Racing Festival, a cherished local tradition, is set to take place on Monday, October 6th, 2025, promising a lively showcase of culture, competition, and community spirit. The event, organized by the Chonburi Municipality, will feature buffalo racing, beauty contests, and an array of traditional activities, drawing both Thai and international tourists to the province.

Mayor Ongart Prasertjit announced that this year’s festival will include various buffalo racing categories and beauty contests, alongside a host of folk activities. A highlight of the event will be the participation of local primary and secondary school students, who will showcase their artistic talents by painting 12 plaster buffalo statues. These colorful creations will be displayed at a scenic viewpoint along the Chonburi Municipality coastline, serving as a landmark for visitors and a nod to the iconic Chonburi Viaduct.

The festival will kick off with a grand cart procession led by Chonburi Governor Naris Niramaiwong and Supinya Niramaiwong, President of the Chonburi Red Cross. Joining them will be Wittaya Khunpluem, President of the Chonburi Provincial Administrative Organization, along with district chiefs and local leaders. The procession will start at the Chonburi Provincial Hall and wind through the Chonburi market, celebrating the region’s rich heritage.

The opening ceremony will be presided over by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Suchart Chomklin, a Chonburi native. The festival, a cornerstone of local culture, continues to attract a large number of visitors, boosting tourism in the province.

Tourists are warmly invited to join the festivities on October 6, 2025, starting from early in the morning in front of Chonburi City Hall in Mueang Chonburi, not Pattaya, to experience the excitement of buffalo racing, admire the beautifully painted buffalo statues, and explore the cultural charm of Chonburi.
