Pattaya Hosts Grand Procession for Navaratri Festival

PATTAYA, Thailand – The Maha Kali Avatar Janani Temple, in collaboration with the Bharat (India) Association of Chonburi, organized a procession of sacred deity statues through the streets of Pattaya to mark the Hindu festival of Navaratri, celebrated over nine days and nights from September 22nd to the 30th, 2025.

Led by Ms. Amporn Kaewsaeng, the founder of the Maha Kali Avatar Janani Temple, alongside Dr. D.O. Kumar Singh, President of the Bharat (India) Association of Chonburi, and Mr. Naresh Chander, Vice President of the association, the event saw devotees carry revered idols of Goddess Kali, Goddess Durga, Goddess Mariamman, Goddess Chamundra, Goddess Saraswati, and Lord Ganesha. The procession aimed to allow worshippers to pay their respects during the auspicious Navaratri festival, a time symbolizing victory and divine blessings.

The procession began at the Maha Kali Avatar Janani Temple in Soi Khao Phratamnak and wound its way through Pattaya Second Road, Beach Road, Dolphin Roundabout, and Walking Street before returning to the temple. Along the route, large crowds of locals and tourists eagerly participated, receiving sacred ash blessings, offering prayers, and seeking divine blessings from the deities in a lively and devotional atmosphere.

Navaratri is a Hindu tradition celebrating the triumph of Goddess Sri Maha Uma Devi, in her form as Maha Durga, over the demon Mahishasura after a nine-day, nine-night battle. The festival culminates on the tenth day, known as the “Day of Victory.” During this period, devotees honor the goddess for prosperity and auspiciousness, often abstaining from meat as a mark of reverence.
