CHONBURI, Thailand – A Myanmar couple miraculously survived a 10-meter fall from an overpass in Sriracha after their motorcycle crashed into a concrete barrier on October 1st, 2025.
At approximately 3:00 p.m., the Sawang Prateep Sriracha Rescue Unit received a report of two people injured in a motorcycle accident at the Bo Yang overpass, near the inbound lane to Chonburi in Moo 9. Emergency responders from the “Lanthom” ambulance team from Somdej Phra Boromrajthevi Hospital and officers from the Nong Kham Police Station rushed to the scene.

At the site, authorities found the couple lying amidst roadside grass. The husband, identified as Mr. Zaw Pola Phaye, 33, sustained only minor injuries and abdominal discomfort, with mud covering his body. His wife, Ms. Nan Wey, 42, was in critical condition, unable to move due to severe pain in her back and suspected fractures in her right arm. Rescue workers provided first aid before rushing both to the hospital. During the rescue, Mr. Zaw was visibly distraught, crying and blaming himself while pleading with responders to save his wife.
On the overpass, approximately 10 meters above the ground, police found a grey-orange Honda Scoopy motorcycle overturned, along with scattered items including a shoe and a plastic bag containing school milk.

A security guard, Mr. Bun Ting Arunphas, stationed near the scene, told The Pattaya News team about hearing a loud crash and seeing objects plummet to the ground. “At first, I didn’t realize it was people. It happened so fast. Luckily, they landed on soft, muddy grass, not the concrete road,” he said. He immediately alerted rescue services and warned Mr. Zaw not to move his wife until help arrived.

Mr. Zaw later explained to The Pattaya News that he was riding to work with his wife but took a wrong turn onto the horseshoe-shaped overpass. Unfamiliar with the route, he was traveling at high speed, mistaking the path for a straight road. Unable to brake in time at the curve, the motorcycle collided with the concrete barrier, sending both him and his wife hurtling over the edge.

Police investigations suggest the couple’s unfamiliarity with the route and excessive speed led to the crash. The soft, grassy landing likely saved their lives, preventing more severe injuries or death.
