PATTAYA, Thailand – A 14-year-old boy was seriously injured when a firecracker exploded in his hand on Pattaya Beach, shocking onlookers. The incident occurred at 9:30 p.m. on September 30th, 2025, near Soi 9.
The Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Rescue Center received an urgent call about a teen injured by a firecracker explosion. Rescue volunteers rushed to the scene, where they found a large crowd of Thai and foreign tourists gathered. The boy, whose name has been withheld due to his age, was in severe pain, with the index and middle fingers of his right hand badly damaged—nails torn off and heavy bleeding. First aid was administered on-site before he was urgently transported to Pattaya City Hospital.

Initial inquiries revealed that the boy had brought a spherical firecracker to the beach. He attempted to light it, but the device exploded unexpectedly in his hand, causing severe injuries.

Authorities have documented the incident and issued a warning to parents to closely supervise their children, especially during school holidays and the upcoming Loy Krathong festival, when illegal firecrackers and fireworks are often sold. Such activities in public spaces pose risks not only to the children but also to bystanders. Officials also urged relevant agencies to intensify crackdowns on shops illegally selling firecrackers.
