Sriracha, Chonburi – A rescue mission took place on September 26th, 2025, as multiple agencies worked together to save “Golden,” a 3-4-year-old Scottish Fold cat, stranded on the rooftop of a three-story commercial building in Surasak in Sriracha, Chonburi. The operation, which lasted over five hours, ended with the safe rescue of the black-and-grey feline, much to the relief of its owner and local cat lovers.
The ordeal began around 2:30 PM when Wichean Lengcharoen, the village head of Moo 8 in the Surasak Subdistrict, received a distress call from residents reporting that a cat named Golden had been stuck on the rooftop of a commercial building, over 10 meters high, near Arcadia 2 Village along the Sak Kho-Nong Kham road. The cat had reportedly been stranded for two days. Wichean called the Sawang Prateep Sriracha Rescue Team and officials from the Chao Phraya Surasak Municipality to assist.

Municipal officials deployed a cherry picker vehicle to aid the rescue, while Sriracha rescue volunteers ascended to search the rooftop. Despite thorough checks, Golden was nowhere to be found initially. Suspecting the cat might be hiding from the sun, the team searched large pipes on the roof and even the ceiling of the third floor, but to no avail. After hours of searching, the municipal team temporarily withdrew the cherry picker, and the rescuers regrouped to plan their next move.

At around 6:30 PM, Golden finally emerged, meowing loudly from the rooftop, sparking joy among the rescuers and the cat’s owner, who had feared the worst. The cat appeared weak, likely from two days without food or water, and was seen wandering the rooftop, seemingly searching for a way down. The rescue team quickly contacted the Sriracha Branch of the Provincial Electricity Authority, which provided another cherry picker for the operation.

However, Golden, wary of strangers, proved difficult to catch, darting across the rooftop as rescuers approached. The team exercised caution to avoid endangering themselves or the cat. In a dramatic turn, Golden slipped and fell from the roof’s edge onto a metal-sheet carport on the first floor, landing uninjured with a loud crash. Startled, the cat leapt across varying rooftop levels before safely reaching the ground. In a panic, Golden hid under a car, but its owner lured it out with food. The cat eventually bolted home, where it was secured and fed, devouring its meal after two days of hunger.

The unidentified owner, who first heard Golden’s cries while walking near their office that afternoon, spoke with The Pattaya News about spotting the cat on the rooftop, calling out for help. “Golden must have recognized me and meowed for assistance,” they said, noting the cat’s weakened state. “I didn’t know what to do, so I called the village head and rescue team. They worked tirelessly from 3 PM until past 8 PM to save Golden. I’m thrilled and so grateful to everyone who helped bring my cat back safely.”
The successful rescue of Golden has warmed the hearts of the local community. It was not clear how Golden had first gotten into the predicament on the roof, notes The Pattaya News.
