Pattaya Deputy Mayor Chairs Meeting on City Electrical System Upgrades and Smart Traffic Safety Cameras

PATTAYA, Thailand (September 25th, 2025) – Deputy Mayor Manot Nongyai presided over a meeting to review progress on the first phase of Pattaya’s major electrical system development project.

Held at Meeting Room 251 in Pattaya City Hall, the session was attended by the mayor’s assistant secretary, the city council president, heads of city departments, relevant officials, and representatives from external agencies, including the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) Pattaya Branch, the Provincial Waterworks Authority, and the National Telecommunications Public Company Limited. The meeting focused on coordinating and monitoring infrastructure development plans for Pattaya.

A key highlight was a presentation by Highway Police Station 2, Division 3, on the “Electronic Traffic Accident Prevention Project.” The initiative seeks permission to install intelligent traffic violation detection cameras to record offenses such as running red lights, identifying suspicious or stolen vehicles, and addressing issues related to drug crimes and illegal labor. The cameras, proposed for a 24-hour operational point on Sukhumvit Road heading toward Sattahip, aim to reduce the burden on officers, enhance transparency, and minimize confrontations between the public and authorities.

Deputy Mayor Manot approved the project, endorsing the installation of 6-meter-high, 3–5-meter-wide camera poles. This marks a big step toward transforming Pattaya into a “smart safety city” by leveraging modern technology to reduce road accidents and promote sustainable compliance with traffic regulations.

The meeting also reviewed progress on Pattaya’s electrical system development, consisting of three main projects:

1. **Third Road (Parinya Intersection to Third Road Intersection, Lot 7):** Underground cable and conduit installation is complete, with electricity distribution expected by November 2025.
2. **Third Road (Konia Intersection to Wat Chai to Walking Street, Lot 8):** Work is ongoing, with electricity distribution projected for January 2026.
3. **Second Road (Wang Kiew Intersection to Intersection 22 to Jomtien, connecting to Sukhumvit):** Underground conduit installation is 100% complete, with the next phase involving underground cable installation, under a 450-day contract.

Additionally, meter and post-meter system upgrades, including sidewalk excavation, are partially complete. Pattaya City has formally requested the relocation of certain utility poles, with the PEA currently addressing the matter.

Pattaya City reaffirmed its close coordination with the PEA to ensure projects stay on schedule while minimizing disruptions to residents.
