Pattaya, Thailand – At 3:06 AM on September 18th, 2025, a massive tamarind tree fell across a road in Pattaya, causing a large disruption to traffic after relentless rainfall. The incident occurred on Soi Phratamnak 6 leaving residents and commuters stranded.
According to reporters from The Pattaya News, the towering tamarind tree, standing over 10 meters tall with a thick trunk, collapsed across both lanes of the road, blocking access entirely. The scene was further complicated by two parked cars, one of which was partially crushed by the fallen tree. An inspection revealed that the ground beneath the tree had eroded due to heavy rain, causing the soil to soften and expand, which destabilized the tree’s roots and led to its collapse.

A local resident, Ms. Nok, aged 41, told reporters that heavy rain had battered the area for several days. “Last night the tamarind tree just came crashing down across the road,” she said. “The soil was so soft that the tree couldn’t hold on anymore. Luckily, nobody was injured.”

Authorities from relevant agencies arrived at the scene to assess the situation but were unable to clear the tree immediately, as they could not contact the owner of the car trapped beneath it. Officials stated that coordination efforts would continue into the following day to resolve the issue.

The fallen tree has caused inconvenience for residents and drivers in the area, showing the impact of prolonged heavy rainfall on Pattaya’s infrastructure.
