Bangkok Crowned Worlds Best City for Generation Z in Global Survey

Bangkok, Thailand-

Bangkok has claimed the top spot as the world’s best city for Generation Z, according to a global survey by Time Out that tapped into the perspectives of under-30s. The Thai capital stood out for its winning blend of happiness, affordability, and community, setting a global benchmark for what young people value in urban life.

Time Out’s survey highlights why Bangkok resonates so deeply with Gen Z. “They seek dynamic experiences, genuine community, work-life balance, and, crucially, the financial freedom to enjoy it all,” the report notes. Bangkok excels in delivering exactly that. An impressive 84 percent of Gen Z respondents in the city reported high levels of happiness, fueled by Bangkok’s infectious energy and positive vibe.

Affordability is another major draw, with 71 percent of young residents praising the city as budget-friendly—a critical factor in an era of rising costs and financial pressures. Beyond finances, Bangkok shines as a social hub, with Gen Z urbanites ranking it the easiest city to make new friends. “It’s a city that proves you don’t have to choose between your wallet and your well-being,” Time Out states. “You really can have it all.”

The survey’s top ten cities for Gen Z reflect a diverse mix of global destinations. Following Bangkok, the list includes Melbourne (Australia), Cape Town (South Africa), New York City (United States), Copenhagen (Denmark), Barcelona (Spain), Edinburgh (United Kingdom), Mexico City (Mexico), London (United Kingdom), and Shanghai (China).

Each city offers its own unique appeal, but Bangkok’s unmatched combination of affordability, happiness, and community connection secured its place at the top.
