Takhian Tia Municipality Launches Healthy Life, Happy Living Project to Screen and Prevent Diseases

BANGLAMUNG, Chonburi – On August 22nd, 2025, the Takhian Tia Subdistrict Municipality, in collaboration with its Health Security Fund, launched the “Healthy Life, Happy Living” project at the Takhian Tia Subdistrict Municipality Office in Bang Lamung District. The initiative, aimed at screening and preventing non-communicable diseases (NCDs), was inaugurated by Mayor Mitchai Prathiptham, with Deputy Mayor Wachira Sujoe delivering the project’s objectives.

The event was attended by key figures, including Deputy Mayor Khwanyuen Prathiptham, Deputy Municipal Clerk Siriwan Anantapreechasri, Mayor’s Secretary Sawet Charoenklang, and Chonburi Provincial Administrative Organization member Malinee Singhasuwich, alongside public health officials, municipal council members, village heads, and local residents.

NCDs, such as hypertension, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and cancer, are a leading cause of death globally, claiming approximately 41 million lives annually, with 400,000 deaths in Thailand alone. These diseases, often linked to poor diet, lack of exercise, and rising obesity rates, also contribute to disability and premature mortality. However, they are preventable through public awareness, proper health management, and regular screenings.

The “Healthy Life, Happy Living” project, funded under the 2025 budget, seeks to educate residents on health maintenance, promote early disease detection, and ensure timely treatment. By addressing NCDs, the initiative aims to reduce their public health impact, as they remain the leading cause of death among Thais. The municipality has prioritized regular health screenings to enable early intervention and improve community well-being.

The project is a team effort between Takhian Tia Subdistrict Municipality, Banglamung District Public Health Office, Pattaya Hospital, and Takhian Tia Subdistrict Health Promotion Hospital. It targets residents aged 30 and above, with 200 participants, including local officials, council members, and staff, taking part in the screenings and educational activities.
