Pattaya, Thailand – August 22nd, 2025: In the early hours of Friday two Chinese men allegedly broke into a luxury villa in Pattaya, Thailand, holding a Thai woman hostage in an apparent attempt to ambush and extort her Chinese husband. The incident occurred at a two-story pool villa in Suphamit Village in South Pattaya.
At 3:06 AM, Pol. Col. Anek Sarathongyoo, Chief of the Pattaya City Police Station, received a distress call from a Thai woman, aged between 30 and 40, who reported being threatened at gunpoint and confined inside her home. Police patrol units and investigators rushed to the scene.
Upon arrival, officers found the woman in a state of panic. She told The Pattaya News that two Chinese men, one wearing a cap and a face mask, had entered her home, threatened her with a firearm, and bound her wrists with cable ties before locking her in a bedroom. The assailants appeared to be waiting for her Chinese husband who wasn’t home at the time, but the woman managed to free herself and escape, seeking help from neighbors who alerted the police.

As police arrived, the suspects, driving a white Toyota sedan with an unknown license plate, attempted to flee the village. When officers blocked their path with a police motorcycle, the suspects rammed the vehicle, damaging it and a nearby resident’s car, before speeding off. A high-speed chase ensued, covering over 20 kilometers, but the suspects, familiar with the area, evaded capture by navigating through remote roads near Huay Yai, close to Thara Resort.

Despite extensive searches, the suspects remain at large. A neighbor, whose identity was withheld due to fear of her well being, confirmed the woman’s account, stating she had run for help, claiming the intruders intended to demand a ransom. Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the suspects’ escape, though the police motorcycle and civilian vehicle sustained damage.

Pol. Col. Anek has ordered a manhunt for the two suspects and summoned the Thai woman and her Chinese husband for questioning to determine the motive behind the attack. Initial statements from the couple were inconsistent, leaving the motive unclear. Police are exploring possibilities including financial disputes, personal conflicts, or business-related issues. The suspects reportedly told the woman not to fear, assuring her that no one would be harmed once her husband returned, suggesting their target was the husband rather than property theft.

Pattaya City Police investigators are reviewing CCTV footage and actively pursuing leads to apprehend the suspects. Authorities have promised to update the public as the investigation progresses.
