Huay Yai-
On August 21st, 2025, at 8:00 PM, Banglamung Police, led by Pol. Col. Sarawut Nuchanart, alongside other officers, arrested Mr. Yu Shizhone, a 41-year-old Chinese national, in a sting operation in Chonburi’s Huai Yai area. The arrest followed an investigation revealing that Mr. Yu was illegally selling electronic cigarettes laced with ketamine, known as “K-vapes,” through online platforms, targeting both Chinese and Thai buyers.

Police set up a sting operation, arranging to purchase 200 K-vape pods for 200,000 baht (1,000 baht each) at a village in Huai Yai. When Mr. Yu sensed a trap, he attempted to flee in a white Toyota Yaris but was apprehended near a pharmacy in Takhian Tia, approximately one kilometer from the sting location.

A search of his vehicle uncovered 24 K-vape pods hidden under the driver’s seat and one used pod. Further investigation led police to his residence in Huai Yai, where they seized a 9mm Sig Sauer handgun, 25 rounds of ammunition, 28 methamphetamine pills, drug paraphernalia, and quantities of crystal methamphetamine and ketamine. All items were confiscated as evidence.

During initial questioning, Mr. Yu admitted to residing in Thailand for over eight months and illegally selling K-vapes. He claimed the methamphetamine belonged to an unidentified Chinese friend and the firearm was pawned by a Thai acquaintance. However, police remain skeptical of his statements, especially after tests confirmed the presence of drugs in his system and erratic behavior like smiling for his evidence photos, despite his significant legal problems.

Mr. Yu faces multiple charges, including violations of the Narcotics Act (possession and use), the Customs Act (related to e-cigarettes), and the Firearms Act. Authorities are continuing their investigation and will prosecute accordingly.
