Army Releases New Evidence of Cambodian Border Violations

PRESS RELEASE:

The Royal Thai Army’s “Than Kra Sae” Facebook page has released new information to counter claims that evidence of Cambodian landmine use was staged. The army presented photographic evidence identifying a Cambodian officer, Second Lieutenant Um Seng, seen holding a PMN-2 landmine in media files from a recently recovered mobile phone.

To prove the authenticity of the evidence, the page published additional photos showing the same officer participating in previous joint patrols with Thai troops.

The army also reported the discovery of punji stick traps in the Phu Makhuea area. These traps, which consist of sharpened wood or iron spikes hidden in camouflaged pits, are considered a significant danger to civilians.

The statement asserts that the use of these traps is a clear act of aggression by Cambodia. It constitutes a violation of international humanitarian law, the Geneva Conventions, and Protocol II of the Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons (CCW).

The preceding is a press release from the Thai Government PR Department.
