Thailand Braces for Heavy Rainfall in Eastern and Southern Regions, August 10th-15th

Bangkok, August 9th, 2025 – The Thai Meteorological Department has issued a weather warning for intensified rainfall across Thailand from August 10 to 15, with particularly heavy downpours expected in parts of the eastern and southern regions along the western coast.

According to the department, the monsoon season is expected to bring increased precipitation nationwide, with some areas in the east and the western side of the south facing “very heavy” rainfall. The affected eastern provinces include Chonburi, Rayong, Chanthaburi, and Trat, while southern provinces such as Ranong, Phang Nga, Phuket, and Krabi are likely to experience significant downpours.

The warning comes as Thailand navigates its annual rainy season, which often brings risks of flash flooding and landslides, particularly in low-lying and coastal areas. Authorities are urging residents in vulnerable regions to stay alert, secure property, and prepare for potential disruptions to travel and daily activities. Local governments are also advised to monitor water levels in rivers and reservoirs closely.

This weather event follows a pattern of increasingly erratic monsoon activity in recent years, which experts attribute to broader climate shifts. The public is encouraged to follow updates from the Thai Meteorological Department for real-time information and safety advisories.
