Koh Chan, Chonburi – On July 23rd, 2025, at 1:30 PM, local authorities in Koh Chan, sometimes called Koh Jan District, Chonburi Province, launched a targeted operation to combat drug trafficking, aligning with the Ministry of Interior’s “No Drugs ~ No Dealers” policy. The initiative was directed by Acting Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Interior, Mr. Phumtham Wechayachai.
Under the supervision of Chonburi Governor Mr. Thawatchai Srithong, Koh Jan District Chief Ms. Kanyakorn Kulphornrat assigned Mr. Thanawut Sitalakaew, Chief Security Officer of Koh Jan District, to lead the operation. The team, comprising members of the Koh Jan District Volunteer Defense Corps Unit 11 and officers from Koh Jan Police Station, led by Police Colonel Tasphong Kongtap, responded to public complaints about drug-related activities in the area.
The operation resulted in the arrest of two individuals involved in drug trafficking. The first suspect, Mr. Siam Phongsaard, aged 45, was apprehended in a buffalo shed in Village 7 with four methamphetamine pills (commonly known as “yaba”) seized. The second suspect, Mr. Attapol Duangchuen, aged 35, was arrested at his residence at Village 5. Authorities confiscated 738 yaba pills, 1.1 grams of crystal methamphetamine (“ice”), and two mobile phones from him.
Mr. Siam faces charges of illegal possession of Category 1 narcotics (yaba) and consumption of methamphetamine. Mr. Attapol is charged with possession of Category 1 narcotics (yaba and ice) with intent to distribute, as well as illegal consumption of methamphetamine. Both suspects were detained and handed over to Koh Jan Police Station for further legal proceedings.
