PATTAYA, Thailand – On July 21st, 2025, at 4:46 AM, Pattaya Tourist Police received a distress call from a Japanese tourist who narrowly escaped an attempted theft on Walking Street in South Pattaya.
The incident occurred in the heart of Pattaya’s popular nightlife district. The victim, a Japanese man in his 30s who wished to remain anonymous, reported that while strolling along Walking Street, he was approached by a group of transgender individuals offering services. After declining their offers, the group allegedly surrounded him, engaging in physical contact by hugging and touching him in an attempt to distract him while trying to unfasten a gold necklace he was wearing.

The tourist, quick to notice their intentions, pushed the group away and immediately sought help from nearby police officers. The suspects fled into the crowd, and no property was reported stolen.
Although the victim chose not to press charges, he urged other tourists to stay alert against similar tactics. He also requested that authorities review CCTV footage in the area to prevent future incidents.

Pattaya Tourist Police stated they would intensify patrols, particularly along Walking Street, a key tourist hotspot, to ensure the safety and confidence of both Thai and international visitors.
