PATTAYA, Thailand — At 10:06 p.m. on July 13th, 2025, the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Rescue Unit in Pattaya received reports of an ammonia leak at an Ice factory, on Soi Nern Plub Wan. Emergency response teams, including Nongprue firefighters, local police, and volunteer rescue workers, were promptly dispatched to the scene.

The incident occurred at an ice production facility situated in a densely populated area surrounded by residential homes. A strong ammonia odor spread over a 100-meter radius, causing irritation and a burning sensation in the noses of those exposed.

Authorities quickly evacuated residents from the vicinity to a safe location while coordinating with factory staff to shut off the ammonia tank valve. Although the valve was closed, the lingering ammonia fumes prompted firefighters to spray water to disperse the gas and prevent it from spreading further. Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported.

Local residents reported that they frequently detect faint ammonia odors from the factory, but this incident was unusually intense, causing significant discomfort. “The smell was much stronger than usual, and it stung my nose,” said one resident. “After the authorities were alerted, they quickly evacuated people to keep us safe.” Residents urged relevant agencies to investigate the facility to ensure the safety of the surrounding community.

Emergency teams successfully contained the situation, and the ammonia odor began to dissipate. Residents were allowed to return to their homes, with no reports of serious health impacts. Authorities will continue to investigate the cause of the leak and implement measures to prevent future incidents.
