PATTAYA, Thailand — On the night of July 12th, 2025, a group of women took matters into their own hands, apprehending a 26-year-old motorbike rider known as “Boom Khunphaen Rider,” identified as Mr. Phonlawat, and turning him over to Pattaya police. The suspect faces allegations of blackmail, assault, and threats involving explicit videos.

The incident unfolded outside a motorbike rental shop in Central Pattaya. Police Lieutenant Colonel Suchart Dusadee, head of the Pattaya City Police Station’s crime suppression unit, led officers to the scene following reports of the confrontation. They found a group of approximately ten young men and women, including the victims, restraining the suspect.

One of the victims, Ms. Oranong, 30, spoke to The Pattaya News team about meeting Phonlawat through a dating app and Facebook, where their relationship initially developed. However, she alleged that he later assaulted her and threatened to release intimate videos unless she complied with his demands.

Four other women came forward with similar accusations, including Ms. Jiraporn, 32, who had previously filed three complaints against Phonlawat for vandalism—spray-painting her motorbike, threats to leak videos, and physical assault. After one victim shared a warning post on Facebook, it garnered over 1,000 comments condemning the suspect, encouraging other victims to speak out and revealing a pattern of similar abuses.

Phonlawat admitted to meeting multiple women through dating apps and engaging in relationships but denied recording or threatening anyone, claiming all interactions were consensual. He also denied responsibility for any property damage.

Investigating officer Lieutenant Anirut Jehrah of the Pattaya Police Station questioned all victims and documented the suspect’s details. To prevent further unrest, the group was dispersed, with plans for additional interrogations. If found guilty, Phonlawat will face charges and legal proceedings in accordance with the law.

Police are urging anyone with further information to come forward as the investigation continues.
