ThaiOil Group, Laem Chabang Municipality, and Local Communities Unite in Candle-Offering Ceremony to Foster Unity and Preserve Tradition

Laem Chabang-

On July 5, 2025, ThaiOil Group, in collaboration with Laem Chabang Municipality and residents from ten communities surrounding its refinery, held the 2025 Unity Candle-Offering Ceremony to mark the upcoming Buddhist Lent, aiming to promote Thai traditions, foster community unity, and sustain Buddhist heritage.

Led by Mayor Jinda Thanomrod of Laem Chabang Municipality and Praprut Phakpha, Community Affairs Manager of Thai Oil Public Company Limited, the event saw participation from ThaiOil executives, employees, community leaders, and local residents. The ceremony involved offering candles and donations to monks to support the Buddhist Lent, with the goals of strengthening family bonds, promoting unity, spreading Buddhist teachings, and boosting tourism in the ten communities around the refinery.

Prior to the event, a “Unity Candle-Making” activity was organized at the ThaiOil Community Health and Learning Center. The initiative included vocational activities, utilizing liquid wax (Slack Wax) provided by Thai Lube Base Public Company Limited to create auspicious floral-scented candles. These were crafted by the Laem Chabang Dolphin Community Enterprise and later offered at the revered Phra Phuttharattanamongkolsakolprachanatmuni, known as “Luang Pho ThaiOil,” integrating cultural, economic, and social values.

On the day of the ceremony, ThaiOil organized a candle procession to ten temples in the refinery’s vicinity: Wat Mai Noen Phayom, Wat Khao Nam Sap, Wat Khao Thung Wua, Wat Manarom, Wat Laem Thong, Wat Laem Chabang (New), Wat Noen Bunyaram (Wat Ton Mamuang), Wat Pachanat, Wat Ban Na (Old), and Wat Laem Chabang (Old). This collective effort reinforced Buddhist traditions and preserved local customs.

ThaiOil expressed confidence that the ceremony would strengthen ties between the organization and local communities, promote the preservation of cherished cultural traditions, and foster efforts for sustainable community development.
