Chonburi, Thailand – Chonburi’s Employment Office, led by Mr. Phuwakorn Toshingkhon, and the Provincial Labour Office, under Mr. Chalermphon Niamsakul, coordinated a joint operation with the Internal Security Operations Command to inspect businesses in Banglamung and Sattahip districts. The operation followed complaints about foreign workers illegally engaging in occupations reserved for Thai nationals, such as street vending (e.g., chicken kebabs, cheese, and ice cream) and providing beauty services like hairdressing and manicures.
The inspection targeted six locations, resulting in the arrest of 17 foreign workers found violating regulations. The group included seven Laotian women, eight Cambodians (six men, two women), and two Myanmar nationals (one man, one woman). Authorities transferred the workers to local police stations for legal action: six to Banglamung Police Station, four to Nongprue Police Station, and seven to Plutaluang Police Station.

The workers face charges under Section 8 and penalties under Section 101 of the Foreigners’ Working Management Emergency Decree B.E. 2560 (2017) for working without permits or beyond permitted scope. Employers who hired these workers are also facing charges under Section 9 and penalties under Section 102 of the same decree for employing unauthorized foreign workers or allowing them to perform unpermitted tasks. Authorities are pursuing further legal action against the employers.
