PATTAYA, Thailand – A dramatic accident unfolded at 11:00 AM on July 4th, 2025, when an 18-wheeler truck carrying chemical containers overturned on Highway 36 (Krathing Lai, Bang Lamung – Rayong) near the entrance to Ban Khlong Yai Monastery in the Pong Subdistrict, of Chonburi. The incident, reported to the Sawang Boriboon Rescue Foundation’s radio center, prompted an immediate response from rescue teams, ambulances, and relevant authorities, who rushed to the scene with hydraulic cutting equipment.

The accident occurred between kilometers 18-19 on the Rayong-bound side of the highway. The white Hino truck, registered as 71-4945 Rayong, was transporting empty corrosive chemical containers. The vehicle overturned, spilling its containers and blocking all lanes, causing a massive traffic jam stretching 6-7 kilometers. Fortunately, as the containers were empty, no chemical spills were reported.

The driver, Mr. Den Penpasuk, 43, escaped the cab with minor injuries, including abrasions to his face and body. He told police he was en route to a factory in Rayong to pick up chemicals when he briefly dozed off, causing the truck to lose control and overturn.

Pol. Lt. Col. Prakasit Paladech, an investigator from Huay Yai Police Station, conducted a thorough inspection of the scene. Authorities coordinated with a crane operator to urgently remove the truck and clear the blocked lanes to alleviate the severe traffic congestion. Preliminary investigations suggest the driver fell asleep at the wheel, but further inquiries will confirm the exact cause of the accident.
