HUAY YAI, Thailand – On July 3, 2025, at approximately 5:36 p.m., a 67-year-old woman, Mrs. Siriporn Kerdkum, reported a brazen daytime robbery at her home to local authorities. The incident, which occurred between 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m., saw a thief make off with valuables worth over 130,000 baht (approximately $3,800 USD), leaving behind scattered belongings and motorcycle tire tracks as evidence.

According to Mrs. Siriporn, the thief stole a range of items, including two gold necklaces (each weighing two salung, valued at 75,000 baht), a gold ring (two salung, 30,000 baht), a diamond ring (30,000 baht), a gold-encased amulet (3,000 baht), a gemstone ring (10,000 baht), a nacre necklace (10,000 baht), a silver belt and bowl (2,000 baht), a Samsung mobile phone (6,000 baht), and a piggy bank with an unknown amount of cash. After discovering the theft, Mrs. Siriporn filed a complaint with Police Lieutenant Mintratit Thongsai at Huay Yai Police Station, though she received only a daily log report as initial documentation.Mrs. Siriporn’s daughter and son-in-law told reporters that the elderly woman had briefly left the house to buy groceries nearby. Upon her return, she was shocked to find her home ransacked, with valuables missing. The family immediately contacted the police, who advised them to file a formal complaint at the station. Investigators later identified tire tracks from an off-road motorcycle at the rear of the property, near a cassava field, suggesting the thief’s entry and exit route. The intruder had cut through barbed wire to access the house.CCTV footage captured partial images of the suspect, described as a man of medium build, approximately 165-170 cm tall, dressed in concealing clothing, including a brimmed hat, face mask, and gloves. He was seen carrying a one-foot-long knife and deliberately turned some cameras to avoid detection. However, one camera recorded him entering the bedroom, where he methodically searched for valuables. Another clip showed the family’s dog barking but wagging its tail, leading the family to suspect the thief may be someone familiar with the household.

The thief fled via the same route, leaving behind a trail of disarray, motorcycle tracks, and limited CCTV footage as clues. The audacious crime has left the family, consisting of women, children, and elderly members, living in fear of the thief’s potential return. They worry that a future encounter could turn dangerous, given the suspect’s use of a weapon.

The family has pleaded with the police to apprehend the culprit and bring him to justice, expressing frustration at the limited initial response from authorities. The motorcycle tracks and CCTV footage now stand as a challenge to the police’s ability to solve the case and restore safety to the shaken household.
